Treasures of Zubeida

Every single piece at the Zubeida has been conceived, conceptualised and effected by the Zuebida family. Honouring their grandmother, the premises has some beautiful, one of a kind pieces that embody the resilience of the Swahili spirit.

We'd like to bring to you some of these stories, showcasing homegrown artisanal talent brought together with nostalgia, sentiment and beauty. Read on to find out more about three of our special pieces.

1. Lamu door

Beautiful seaside accents are a part of every single doorway. Designed by the family, each piece is completely unique- bringing you a burst of fresh air regardless of the Villa you are staying in. Embracing the power and imperfection of the ocean, we choose not to use geometric designs, instead- allowing the designs to flow into one another seamlessly.

2. Master Bedroom

Has driftwood furniture accents, and a saloon-style door leading to the walk-in closet and bathroom, the master bedroom is the ultimate space for rest and relaxation. A large table allows you to complete your work (if this is a working holiday), with our fast, efficient wifi, while your new work view is the bright blue sky, deep turquoise waters and silky white sands.

His and her sinks, a pressure shower and ample wardrobe space ensures you can remain organised, have easy access to your items and enjoy our nourishing, handmade Cinnabar Kenya products.

3. Barazas

Known as traditional Swahili households, they are a great place to lounge, relax and spend time with your loved ones- away from worldly affairs and problems. Soothing tones of white, turquoise and blue make the spaces welcoming and soothing.

The villas have either a garden view or a beach view, but one thing that is the same is the cool breeze that whisks away the coastal humidity, assisted by our fans and air conditioners.

All our furniture is made from driftwood or locally and ethically acquired soapstone and has been designed by the family and crafted by local artisans.

Each Villa has a different combination to ensure the preservation of the uniqueness that is The Zubeida.
